Binomial The two-worded Latin name scientists use to identify a genus and species, such as "Homo sapiens."

Carnivore Animals that eat other animals.

Cretaceous era The geologic era between 135 million years ago and 64 million years ago.

Genera Plural of genus (a level of classification that usually includes several species with closely related structures and ancestry).

Mesozoic Era The geological period from 225 to 65 million years ago.

Paleontologist A scientist specializing in the study of prehistoric life forms.

Radiation The evolution of several species from a single ancestor.

Vertebrae Bones of the spinal column.
