Thinking, talking and learning actually changes opinions!
The National Issues Convention in Austin met it's goal of changing opinions by presenting facts, encouraging discussion among people with differing backgrounds and opinions. James Fishkin, who staged the event, found these to be among the most surprising changes.

Support for the flat tax flattened out, from 43.5% to 29.8%.

The percentage of people who wanted to give states and localities more responsibility for welfare grew from 49.5% to 62.5%.

The percentage who strongly agreed that "The average worker does not receive a fair day's pay for a fair day's work" rose from 26.6% to 40.4%.

That is surprising! And there's more... More! home back
